RTYC Designate the 1860 Silver Staples Trophy to the P40 Class

The Royal Thames Yacht Club hosted their Annual Invitational Regatta last season, and have recently designated the 1860 Silver Staples Trophy to the P40 Class. This trophy has some amazing history. It dates back to the 1800 where the Kaiser presented a vase for the winner of a race to celebrate the opening of the Kiel Canal. The race on 24th June was won by the 22 ton cutter DOROTHY owned by Thames member Sydney F Staples.

Fast Forward 100 year’s and we congratulate Michael and Sebastian Blair, owners of Cobra who topped the podium in first place at this years RTYC Annual Invitational Regatta.

With next season on the horizon, we look forward to carrying forward the Staples Trophy and awarding it to the next P40 Champion.
